application of rhetorical theory: aiga “end gun violence” project brief

in small groups, mind-map a range of signs for gun violence. remember, signs can be images and text.
next, create a matrix in which to develop thumbnail concepts.
- 1 rhetorical trope per row, 9 rows total (tropes are running down the left side of your matrix)
- 1 column per sign (minimum) x 3 signs (signs are running across the top of your matrix)
- tools: large segment of craft paper, marker, sticky notes or index card/tape, pencil.
take about 5 minutes for each sketch.
fit each sketch on sticky note or index card, neatly labeled with its respective trope.
arrange cards on your matrix.

homework
find at least one example for each trope from your required definitions
- if hard copy, scan in and be ready to show examples on your laptop for next class.

conduct background research on the topic. look for and document examples of the following:
- statistics and facts (logos)
- responses of victims' families, the communities, the public in general (pathos)
- content experts or authority figures weighing in (ethos)
