good critique essay

check out this brief piece on citiques from the aiga website. some good insights and reminders. reading this article makes me think we are doing a pretty good job, but what do you think? what could we (teachers, students, or both) be doing to create more useful critique sessions?

  2. Ah man, I sure wish there was a "like" button for your last post Tyler. I honestly REALLY enjoy / appreciate the crits we have at KCAI. Coming in as a transfer student, I've experienced crits at a previous school and the difference is rather huge. The students and faculty at KCAI give honest crits; they tell you when something is working but they also are not afraid to tell you when something isn't. It's sounds insane but it's sooooooo nice to hear when something doesn't work. At LC, the school I transferred from, no one wanted to tell somebody else that an element in their piece wasn't working. It can be hard to voice that kind of opinion (let alone take that criticism), but people eventually realize that this is all constructive and we are building each other up by tearing apart their pieces (HA). Seriously though, this builds us up as designers. We are designing for others, not ourselves, and we are pretty damn lucky to be getting feedback from the designers surrounding us.

    Ok, end ramble
